Restaurant Patios to Visit this Summer that are Great Patios at Alvin Restaurants
Enjoy the summer gulf coast air, delicious food, and cold drinks on some of Alvin’s best restaurant patios.
Gordon Street Tavern
When you step onto this patio be prepared for good friends, delicious food, and great spirits! From this patio, you can enjoy the view of the Historic Train Depot in the shadow of Alvin’s downtown area. As one of Alvin’s eldest relics, over 100 years of history lie within the walls of the Gordon Street Tavern. They offer southern comfort food with a twist and craft beer lovers could find their new favorite brew while eating here. As Brazoria County’s first Brewpub that serves House-brewed Craft Beer, they have something for everyone. They also offer unique cocktails like Not Yo Momma’s Lemonade, 40 creek Whiskey with Triple Sec, lemon juice, and Sprite, or you could try Wake and Bake, Rocket Boom Cold Brew Coffee with Bailey’s Irish Cream and Kahlua. You can start off your meal with their delicious Warm Goat Cheese Spread that is served in a warm skillet with balsamic reduction, fresh fruit, crunchy baguettes, and English cucumber slices. Another favorite is the S.W. Tamale Eggrolls, which are 44 Farm’s premium all-beef tamales, tempura battered, fried, and served with avocado-ranch. For the main course, you can enjoy the Grilled Red Snapper with cilantro lime sauce, toasted polenta, and steamed broccoli. If you are looking for something a little bit heavier, we suggest the Chicken Fried Steak, which is a 44 Farms Angus beef steak covered in country gravy served with mashed potatoes & white gravy, and a side of Texas toast. Gordon Street Tavern’s patio offers a great place to sit back and relax with friends.
Monterey’s Little Mexico
You can enjoy the Texas gulf coast breeze while sipping on a margarita under the shade of the branches of a gorgeous big oak in the shadows of downtown Alvin at Monterey’s Little Mexico restaurant. You can start off your meal with the Monterey Platter that is perfect for a large group. Dig into beef and chicken quesadillas, beef and chicken flautas, beef, and bean nachos, buffalo wings, cheese sticks, and guacamole. You can also enjoy their Tex – Mex specialties like flautas, stuffed avocado, Carne Asada, or the Texas Burrito. Some fan favorites are the Chicken Cancun, cheese stuffed chicken breast deep fried smothered with chile con queso, and Steak al Carbon, charbroiled marinated fajita steak topped with zesty ranchero sauce and cheese. Something calming about a coastal breeze on a patio with good food.
La Costa Seafood and Grill
If you are a seafood lover then you must stop by La Costa Seafood and Grill and enjoy some shrimp micheladas on their patio. You cannot be this close to the coast and not enjoy some delicious seafood with some Latin flair. La Costa creates some amazing dishes using inspiration from places like Galveston, South Texas, and Latin seafood culture. To start things off for an appetizer you could order the La Costa Seafood Tower to make sure everyone gets what they are craving. This tower of shrimp ceviche, crab, scallops, octopus, cucumbers, onions, and mango topped with avocado is the perfect way to jump start your seafood cravings. If you are craving something a little tamer you can enjoy the White Queso or Boudin Balls. For the main meal we suggest something off the grill. You can enjoy the Shrimp in white cream, a lemon butter sauce, or Shrimp ranchero style with chiles, onions and salsa. A fan favorite is the Seven Seas Soup, which is a traditional Mexican soup that includes shrimp, crab, baby octopus, calamari, catfish, mussels, and clams. For those who enjoy the southern favorite of Po’boys, La Costa has exactly what you need. You can order the classics like a shrimp, oyster, or crawfish Po’boy. You can also go a little wild with a gator or soft-shell crab Po’boy. All Po’boys are served on white bread topped with La Costa sauce with fries or coleslaw. They also offer different types of beer on draft as well as delicious margaritas. The perfect place to enjoy the taste of the Texas Gulf Coast!
Tommaso’s Italian Grill and Cajun Seafood

With a kid-friendly environment, you can bring your whole family for some outdoor fun on the patio. Start off your mean with their Spicy Fried Ravioli, which is ravioli filled with cheesy goodness, breaded, and deep-fried until the pasta shell becomes slightly crispy and golden brown. Enjoy one of their signature pizzas or a calzone that is topped with garlic and olive oil sauce with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Try out some pizza fan favorites like the Salty Dawg Sicilian Pan Pizza with Chicken, mozzarella, wing sauce with ranch and red pepper flakes, or the Garlic Alfredo With Shrimp Sicilian Pan Pizza and creamy alfredo sauce, pecorino cheese, fresh garlic, mozzarella cheese, and shrimp. Tommaso’s offers the best combination of pizza and patios!
Dairyland
Not only does Dairyland offer a great covered patio to sit down and enjoy some drive-in favorites, but it is one of Alvin’s most unique restaurants! Dairyland has been in the Alvin area for the last 60 years, and it is one of the most perfectly preserved 1960s drive-ins. This place serves hand-dipped homemade waffle cones and some of the best milkshakes in the area, using Texas’s very own Bluebell Ice Cream. They also have a treat called the Purple Cow, which is Fanta grape soda with a dip of Bluebell vanilla ice cream. You can also enjoy an Alvin favorite the Yellow Jacket Pride, which features Fanta Orange Soda instead of grape. Dairyland is known as the home of the Tortilla Burger, which is a hamburger that has onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese served on two flat crunchy taco shells. Another Fan Favorite is the Fried Jalapeno Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of crinkle-cut fries or gravy cheese fries. All their beef is 100% fresh from Stanton’s Meat Market, which has been in the area since the 1920s. To feed your sweet tooth a little more you can grab some fried Oreos, brownie bites with ice cream and hot fudge, or your choice of apple, cherry, or peach fried eggroll pies. Drive on in and enjoy this American classic.
