Bob Briscoe Park spreads across a large area of 42 acres. The park has a paved track which makes it is ideal for a morning or evening walk and connects to Alvin Community College, the dog park, and all-inclusive playground equipment. Since the park is dog friendly, you can enjoy some quality time with your four-legged friends here and even let them off their leash at the Alvin Dog Park at Briscoe Park. There is a small tot-lot in the park with swings and slides that keep the kids effectively engaged. Meanwhile, you can just lie on the green lawns and relax for some time. It includes two soccer fields, two football fields, and restrooms. There are also shade pavilions that are perfect to host a get-together.
The Disc Golf Course At Briscoe Park is immersed in nature. There are 18 holes with a par of 58 and has Innova DISCatcher Pro 28 baskets. This intermediate-level course is flat with some foliage as well as some water areas. Course lights will be on from dusk to 10:30 PM making it perfect for late-night tournaments.
Resoft County Park is going to be a perfect gateway from the bustle of the city. Sprawling over an area of 80-acres, the park is equipped with three large and two small covered pavilions, barbeque pits, a large multi-stage playground. The park also has a series of regulation soccer fields with tournament lighting, horseshoes, basketball courts, and volleyball making it perfect for any looking for a place for team sports. Plus, the park is also home to a nine-basket disc golf course. This course has several easy holes and a couple of very challenging ones. It goes around the lake, weaving through other park amenities.
There is also a renovated lake with piers leading to a stocked pond with catfish. State Freshwater Fishing Regulations apply to this lake. Resoft Park has extended walking and jogging trails, parking, and restroom facilities.
Camp Mohawk is a 55-acre day-use park with overnight facilities in a wooded setting along Chocolate Bayou between Angleton and Alvin. The camp features self-contained cabins and climate-controlled dormitories with kitchens. There are also tent camping areas, covered pavilions, and picnic areas with grills. Plus, a three-acre lake with a canoe launching area, playground, basketball court, and baseball field. Hikers or bird watchers can enjoy the extended trail system.
Natural attractions at Camp Mohawk include the only stand of native pine trees in Brazoria County, a guide for identifying tree species along the trails, bird watching, and nature viewing, and fishing. For those that are looking for a convenient place to get married, there is a beautiful chapel at the camp that is picture-perfect for your big day. There are several paved parking areas and restrooms at the park.
National Oak Park is home to Alvin Skate Park, Rotary Pavilion, National Oak Tree, the origination of hike and bike trail, seven other covered pavilions with picnic tables, swing set, drinking fountains, playground, and parking. It has plenty of green space to enjoy as well as plenty of Oak trees to have a picnic under.
Tom Blakeney Jr Hike & Bike Trail is a hiking area in Alvin, Texas. Great place for a walk or run while offering an alternative view of the city only seen by foot. Many things along the trail – train depot, library, city pool, restaurants, bars – all in the shadows of Mustang Bayou. This trail will take hikers from one side of town almost clear to the other side of town. The trail also offers a butterfly garden to enjoy. Hikers can see wildlife like Herons, cardinals, rabbits, turtles, and hawks. There are also small pavilions and benches available along the trail.
