Everyone loves delicious food, good drinks and a fun atmosphere. Every restaurant on the Alvin Foodie offers all three! Whether you are enjoying horchata and a taco at Juanita’s Taqueria, or grabbing a famous milkshake at Grace Pizza & shakes, there is something for everyone on the Alvin Foodie Trail.

A “Foodie Trail” highlights unique restaurants in an area that are inspired by an area’s history, culture, or environment. It allows people to learn about a town through its locals’ love of the cuisine. Plus, it can make planning trips easier if you are new to a city. You don’t have to search the internet for all the best local places, just take a look at the foodie trail.  Even though Alvin is on the smaller side, there is still plenty of delicious food and amazing people to meet along the Alvin Foodie Trail.

Where to Start….

Juanita’s Taqueria | 106 S 3rd St

Start you morning right by stopping by Juanita’s Taqueria for one of their delicious breakfast plates! All of their breakfast plates are served with potatoes, refried beans, and an order of homemade tortillas. A local favorite is Migas, which is crunchy pieces of corn tortillas with scrambled eggs and a mixed of jalepenos, onions, and tomatoes. We can’t help but recommend the Barbacoa and Eggs plate, but replace the side of the potatoes for a side order of Nopales. They also offer a delicious lunch menu with items like made-to-order guacamole, mini tacos plate, and fajitas. Jaunita’s Special is a lunch favorite, with two enchilasdas filled with bee, cheese or chicken and one ground beef crispy taco and Queso Chip Puff. They also have Asado de Puerco, which is pork should in red sauce served with guacamole, rice, and refried beans. Enjoy a glass bottle coca cola or homemade horchata with your meal. Juanita’s Taqueria is open Monday through Sunday from 6:00am – 3:00pm.

1820 Coffee House | 419 W Sealy St

If you aren’t a big breakfast person but need your coffee fix before you can start the day then you need to stop by 1820 Coffee House. They offer seasonal drink specials that are perfect for when you’re craving that favorite fall drink or cold summer brew that highlights the favors for that time. If you can’t make your mind up on what to get, then we recommend getting one of their iced coffee flights. Some of the iced favorites have been the Cowboy Cookie, which has Texas Pecan coffee and flavors of mocha, cinnamon, and coconut. If you have a wild hair, you can add the Cold Brew Spritzer to your flight, which is a cold brew with lemonade.  If you are just needing a coffee fixed and something to eat it’s the perfect place to grab a latte, and a breakfast treat like a scone, muffin, or cinnamon roll to go as you head off on your adventure around Alvin! They are open Monday through Friday from 6:00am – 8:00pm, then Saturday from 7:00am – 8:00pm and Sunday from 9:00am – 5:00pm.

Time for Lunch……..

Grace Pizza & Shakes | 113 E Sealy St

Grace Pizza & Shakes is the perfect place to stop and eat lunch! They offer some amazing pizzas full of local flavor and flair. A majority of their meat, vegetables, and produce come from local businesses. One example of this is The R-C Ranch Meat Wagon pizza, which has mozzarella, Wagyu meatballs from R-C Ranch located in Brazoria County, pepperoni, pork shoulder bacon, and Italian sausage. A local favorite is the spinach dip starter served in a cast-iron skillet and served with coal-fired flatbread. We encourage you to spend the extra money and add crumble bacon on top. Your taste buds can thank us later. If you are looking for something a bit lighter, try out their Build Your Own Salad. With salad toppings like Wagyu Flank Steak, sundried tomatoes, and a balsamic vinaigrette, you can’t choose wrong. For dessert, you have to try one of Grace’s famous shakes. You suggest Kane’s Cookie Shake, which has vanilla ice cream, milk, crumbled cookies, chocolate, and caramel syrup, plus it is topped with a buttercream chocolate chip sandwich, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings. MyLeigh’s Cafe | 2370 W Hwy 6

MyLeigh’s Cafe is a hidden gem in Alvin, serving made-from-scratch soups, and classic and new American comfort foods. Chef Pennye started out catering for events, but her food became so popular that a permanent café was needed to feed everyone. MyLeigh’s Cafe still provides quality catering services in the greater Houston and surrounding areas. Chef Pennye spent summers in Texas with her Grandmother, an original “foodie”. She began learning basic cooking skills as early as five years mastering the art of removing corn from the cob and peeling potatoes. She continues the use of those basic skills daily. A fan favorite is the Lobster Roll, which is a tangy lobster salad with a hint of lemon and fresh parsley on a buttery hoagie roll. Add a side of her famous fries and you are in sandwich heaven. If you like to live life on the spicy side, you could try the Ghost Pepper Cheeseburger. This burger has all the regular burger toppings, but is served with cheddar cheese, peppered bacon, and MyLeigh’s ghost pepper sauce on a toasty bun. Another sandwich you can’t go wrong with is the Chicken Parmesan. This sandwich is served with a parmesan-crusted chicken breast with creamy vodka sauce, provolone cheese, fresh parsley inside buttery grilled Italian bread. They also offer delicious soups or salads, or if you can’t decide they offer a lunch combo with is half of a classic sandwich with either a cup of soup or chose one of the three salads, Garden, signature, or Caesar.  Since they are still doing catering full time as well as a restaurant front their hours can vary. Currently, Myleigh’s Café hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11:00am -2:00pm and then Thursday through Friday is also open in the evenings from 4:00pm – 8:00pm.
